This place is stunning.
We woke up to paradise. We woke to find that there were not many visitors in the camping ground and it was just so peaceful.
It was postcard perfect, not a breeze about and birds chirping all around. The camp site was being painted and prepped for the up and coming peak season. After breakfast we decided to go for a walk around the area and soon realised it was really isolated. We found a small beach and stopped to skim rocks on crystal clear water, it was the first time for Spring.
We spent the rest of the day relaxing. The ambient temp was perfect approx. 25-27 degrees, but the water temp was lucky to be 18. I jumped in with the girls and quickly got out as it was just too cold. Some more campers arrived and they had kids. So our girls joined three others for a game of soccer (football) on the grass. We found this camping ground to be just what we needed, a little quiet time. We decided to stay for a second night and even had a tasty dinner in their restaurant.
Why did we quad bike in Turkey? Because it was easy.
After waking to another perfect morning, we packed up camp and got on the road approx. 1030. Our next stop was further South in a place called Selcuk. We pulled into the caravan park approx. 1500 and again it had another stunning water backdrop. I parked the van up on sand after some high recommendations from a German grey nomad. He told me it ‘was the best spot to see the water when you wake‘. I even had to get the northerly position of the van and ensure correct level before my new grey nomad friend would let me shut it down for the day. I was more worried about getting bogged to be honest.
After we settled in we went for a walk up the beach to what we thought were a few shacks and a bit of a dodgy looking area. No, it was a little bar that had a horse riding and quad bike riding business. We decided to stop and just have a beer and watch the sun over the ocean when the barman asked if we would like to go quad bike riding. He said ‘you can have 1.5 hour tour but only pay for 1 hour there is room left’. So as easy as that we were on for 1.5 hour quad bike ride.
I had Spring on the front of my seat and Summer had Autumn on the back of her seat. The first hour was slow going as we covered rough terrain, even saw a turtle. After a short break, we were back on for the last half hour and it was flat out. It was so much fun. We were all smiling from ear to ear. Returned to the café and thought why did we do that?? It was expensive but we did it and all really enjoyed it, so that was enough said. We were covered in sand and horse poo smelling dust so we grabbed some take away minced meat Pides for dinner, showered and Summer tried to hand wash the smell out of our clothes. We had a great sleep that night.
