Day 59

We get Bangkok!

Summer and I were not really interested in Thailand, Bangkok anyway, we always thought we would be able to visit Thailand on another holiday as it is so accessible from Aust.

Today we just strolled down to breakfast and to our surprise the first full buffet we have had since our departure from Sydney. We all had a good go at breakfast and really stuffed ourselves. Then decided to take advantage of the rooftop pool. Spent the whole morning up there and then went down for a walk around Rambuttri St and over to Khao San Rd. Really amazing how many tourists are transiting through the place. Stopped and had a feed and watched the world go by. Returned to the room for some homework and ventured out again approx. 1700 for another look around. Still the same just more people about as they returned from there day trips. Khao San was now blocked off to traffic and we decided to have a go at some crickets and worms from the street carts. Not my usual entrée but still an experience none the less as we chowed down.

It wasn’t really nice at all very crunchy with only the salt as flavour. Returned back to Rambuttri as it is a bit more chilled out and to our liking, so we had a feed and then went to our local popup bar for a few drinks and got talking to the boss lady till about 2230. Had one last drink and returned for bed.

Day 60

Where is our TukTuk?

Again we all had a good go at breakfast and then decided to go for a city tour first stop, check out the lying Buddha. Walked up to Khao San Rd to arrange one of the thousand Tuk Tuk drivers. Picked one and he took us to the lying Buddha went in had a look around few photos and impressed by the shear size of the Buddha. Returned back to the meeting place after about an hour but our Tuk Tuk was no were to be seen. Went for walk around the place just to check out the main street and then returned to the meeting place, still no Tuk Tuk. We were sure he had bolted but gave him one last chance and went over to the markets and looked at a long tail boat ride. Decided against the boat ride as it was part of the Tuk Tuk tour and returned to see if our Tuk Tuk was back. Big NO, so we arranged for another to take us back to Khao San Rd. We had not lost anything as we had not paid him, resigned to the fact he must have got a better offer. Had some lunch and returned to the room for some school work. Went back out after school approx. 1800 for some dinner. Just stayed in the local Rambuttri and returned to our local pop-up bar for some beers prior to going to bed. Can’t believe we have been travelling for two months all ready.
